On May 3, 2023, the Art 103 class embarked on an educational tour to learn more about art and designs. The first stop was at the Chicago bridge house museum, where Professor Gabriella gave history about the bridge house museum. Reason the bridge was constructed and its purpose and more. We moved towards the cafĂ© shop, where we went to grab some hot coffee because the weather was not favorable and extremely cold. We had an interesting time at the coffee shop, exquisite and the ambiance of the place was lovely. Finally, we moved and stopped at our destination for the day. The Apple store so a lovely edifice with ultra-modern and state-of-the-art designs and materials. She told the class the history of the building. The building is made with an impressive airy glass box. The design features minimize the boundaries between the interior and exterior including the ultra-thin roof and 32-foot glass walls.   CHICAGO CULTURAL CENTER “Surviving the Long Wars” Reckon and Reimagine ABOUT: The culture center was completed in 1897 as Chicago’s first central public library, the building was designed to impress and to prove that Chicago had grown into a sophisticated metropolis. In 1991, the building was established as the Chicago Cultural Center by the   Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs , the nation's first and most comprehensive free municipal cultural venue. Every year, the Chicago Cultural Center presents hundreds of free international, national, regional, and local artists, musicians, and performers, providing a showcase where the public can enjoy and learn about the arts. SWAMP RUINS

Image
SWAMP RUINS Artist Bio: I work as a freelance artist in print, web, and corporate presentations. Besides graphics, I create a large, unique body of work: self-contained abstract assemblages/dioramas. In desk drawers and wooden boxes, I collage landscapes with materials like resin-infused paper, rusted objects, toys, fabric, wig hair, and twigs. I show haunting, eerie post-industrial dream vistas in colorful Led backlighting. I mix beauty with mystery and dark humor. The first Chicago high-rise built after the great depression, inland steel was the paradigm for SOM’s principle that high-rise form at its best does, indeed follow function. Inland steel changed the way towers are constructed and helped transform American office culture during the second half of the 20 th century. The building consists of a 19-story office tower and a 25-story service tower. An on-storage unit that contains auxiliary facilities is affected by the service tower. The 19 floors of the office tower, each with an area of 10,200 square feet have no interior columns and therefore these open floor areas allow maximum flexibility in the arrangement of offices and w...
